District Fringe
Location: Washington, DC (Venue TBD)
Contract Type: Contract, Seasonal
Summary: The Venue Technical Director (VTD) is a key role responsible for overseeing all technical operations across District Fringe venues. This includes coordinating with show producers with load-ins and strikes, coordinating technical rehearsals, main responsible for system troubleshooting and technical operations, supervising technical staff, and ensuring that all performances run smoothly and safely. The VTD will collaborate closely with artists, venue partners, and festival leadership to bring each production to life.

Job Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary technical liaison between District Fringe and all participating venues.
Assess venue technical capabilities and coordinate necessary equipment rentals and deliveries.
Train and supervise seasonal technical staff and volunteers. Staffing placements will be assigned by festival leadership
Foster a collaborative and efficient working environment.
Maintain inventory of technical equipment and supplies.
Ensure all venues meet safety standards and are prepared for performances.
Creation of venue packet with space technical details for participating shows.
Review and address technical needs submitted by artists.
Schedule and oversee technical rehearsals, ensuring adherence to festival policies.
Provide on-site support during performances to troubleshoot technical issues.
Qualifications:
Experience as a Technical Director or similar role in theater or live events.
Strong knowledge of lighting, sound, rigging, and stage management.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

Summary: The venue manager oversees all aspects of coordination and management of one District Fringe venue, including but not limited to coordinating schedules, serving as primary point-of-contact for artists, and serving as supervisor for house management and bar staff. .
Job Responsibilities:
Serve as on-site point of contact for all staff and artists
Coordinate with DF leadership to ensure that operations at venue run smoothly
Learn the basics of technical equipment of the space such that the Venue Manager can start them up and shut them down (ability to troubleshoot a plus)
Create and coordinate load-in, tech, performance, and load-out schedules for all artists performing at their venue, and communicate that schedule to artists
Liaise with technical director to ensure that venue has everything needed for smooth operations
Act as supervisor for bar staff and house management to ensure a smooth audience experience
Serve as DF rep with with bar and house management staff, managing any personnel or performance issues, including keeping DF leadership apprised of any issues and escalating to leadership as necessary

Summary: The House Manager is responsible for overseeing front-of-house operations during the festival, ensuring smooth audience experiences from entry to exit. The ideal candidate is organized, personable, and calm under pressure, with a passion for live performance and public-facing service. This role may be assigned to either serve drinks for bar/concessions or for ticketing check-in.

Job Responsibilities:
Oversee front-of-house operations at one or more venues, including:
Coordinating usher teams
Managing audience entry, seating, and exit
Handling late seating and ADA accommodations
Serve as primary liaison between audience, box office, and production team during performances.
Monitor and address any customer service or safety issues.
Ensure programs, signage, and other materials are distributed and properly displayed.
Submit performance reports noting attendance, incidents, or patron feedback.
Ensuring that audience members are masked during masked performances.
Qualifications:
Experience in customer service, front-of-house, or event management.
Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
Ability to lead and communicate effectively with volunteers and staff.
Commitment to creating a welcoming, inclusive environment for all patrons.
Familiarity with basic safety and emergency procedures (CPR/First Aid a plus but not required).

Summary: The Bar Manager is responsible for overseeing all front-of-house bar operations during District Fringe, including setup, inventory, staffing, compliance, and customer service. This role requires an ABCA Manager Certification in the District of Columbia and strong leadership and hospitality skills. The bar will operate during festival performances and special events across multiple days.

Job Responsibilities:
Work with festival leadership to design efficient, compliant bar setups.
Ensure all necessary ABCA regulations and permits are in place and upheld.
Create menus, price lists, and signage in collaboration with marketing/ops teams.
Procure and track bar inventory (alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, ice, cups, etc.).
Hire, schedule, and train bar staff and volunteers.
Establish opening/closing procedures and cash-handling protocols.
Supervise house managers and volunteers.
Enforcing ID checks and responsible service of alcohol.
Serve as the on-site ABCA-certified manager during open bar hours.
Ensure cleanliness, safety, and a welcoming environment.
Handle customer service issues professionally and efficiently.
Maintain accurate sales and inventory records for festival reporting.
Qualifications:
ABCA Manager’s License in Washington, D.C. (District Fringe may be able to help with obtaining this certification).
Experience in bar management or beverage service experience (festival or pop-up experience a plus).
Strong understanding of D.C. alcohol laws and service best practices.
